Jodi Gordon of Motorcycle Law Scotland and Jayne Crawford of
Thompsons presented the cheque to Fiona Dennis, the Community Fundraiser of
SCAA, at the charity’s headquarters in Perth, in recognition of the critical role SCAA plays, particularly airlifting victims of road traffic accidents to hospital.

The SCAA launched its helicopter air ambulance in May 2013 to assist the Scottish Air Ambulance Service (SAAS) and relies entirely on public donations to operate. Last year, SCAA carried out 269 missions: more than half were for road traffic collisions, motor cycle accidents, equestrian injuries, fall and impact injuries; another 20% were for medical crises and a further 15% for cardiac emergencies.
SCAA is based at Perth Airport in order to reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes.
Fiona took Jayne and Jodi on a tour of the Operations Room and the new Helimed helicopter.
Jayne, who is an Associate with Thompsons Solicitors said:
“We are thrilled to be able to team up with Motorcycle Law Scotland to donate the £1,000. Together, we recognise the importance of this service as saving time really can save lives. It was great to visit the headquarters in Perth as we got to see first-hand where the money will be used and understand more about the important role the service plays in saving hundreds of lives every year.”
Jodi, who has worked with Motorcycle Law Scotland for the past 3 years, commented:
“Together with Thompsons Solicitors, we have supported many victims of road crashes and particularly those who are vulnerable to serious injury such as motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians. Time can make the difference between a fatal injury or a survivable injury which is why we are pleased to offer our support to this incredible service.”
Fiona added:
“This donation is great news for SCAA as it costs £1.5million every year to provide a critical life-saving service to the people of Scotland. As the country’s only charity funded helicopter air ambulance service, we are very grateful to both Thompsons Solicitors and Motorcycle Law Scotland for their generous support.”
The Motorcycle Law Scotland and Thompsons Solicitors team met with SCAA Chairman, John Bullough and Chief Executive, David Craig earlier last year to see how they could offer their support for the service they provide
