For as many years as we can remember, Scottish Borders Council and Police Scotland (Divisional HQ in Hawick) have jointly supported and funded places for 20 individuals to undertake the IAM 'Skills for Life' advanced motorcycle training and test in the Scottish Borders. Sadly, however, this support has been withdrawn for 2023.
When we at Motorcycle Law Scotland heard this news, we immediately wanted to step in and lend our support.
Brenda Mitchell, Senior Partner at MLS, said:
“All of our Lawyers and admin staff are either Advanced motorcyclists or have passed their CBT. We know how important advanced training is in order to be a better and safer rider on the roads. We see the consequences of poor driving and also poor riding on a daily basis, so we are delighted to be able to provide funding for the first 10 sign ups on April 2nd at the BGAM Open Day. We would highly recommend the IAM ‘Skills for Life’ course for all motorcyclists; it’s a life saver.”
Places on the course are available to riders who hold a UK category A or A2 licence. They must have a legal and road worthy motorcycle capable of maintaining the national speed limit, commit to completing the course by March 31st, 2024 with BGAM, for the refund.
