Graham Clark, 56, was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident in October 2011. A collision with VW Passat on the A96, Aberdeen to Inverurie dual carriageway, left him with numerous fractures as well as a traumatic brain injury.
His insurance company quickly put him in touch with its appointed solicitor. But, instead of being given the support Graham needed, 10 months later, finding it hard to hold down his job and still struggling to come to terms with his injuries, he had not even been offered an appointment to meet him.
As far as Mr Clark is concerned, the system let him down. Despite sustaining serious injuries that had significant impact on his life, he felt as if he was being treated as just another file number.
It was only a chance meeting with specialist motorcycle lawyer, Brenda Mitchell from Motorcycle Law Scotland, at Thunder in the Glens motorcycle event in August 2012 that things started to turn around for the better. Only then was the extent of his injuries fully investigated and the process to determine liability for the collision – and ultimately the award of any compensation – put in motion.
