Askey v Wood (2005)
A Renault Clio and a Honda motorcycle collided at a 90° bend on a country road.
The speed limit was 60mph.
The driver of the car was on the wrong side of the road and the motorcyclist on the correct side of the road at the point of impact.
The motorcyclist was travelling at excessive speed (approximately 60mph) on approach to the blind bend. The motorcyclist's speed and the car driver's positioning were the cause of the accident. There was also evidence that the motorcyclist may have lost control prior to impact and that his speed into the bend denied him the opportunity to take evasive action.
