A collaborative approach - placing the victim at the centre of the claims process.

In May 2017, following a motorcycling collision at the Gordon Arms crossroads in the Scottish Borders, Paul King's life changed for ever. Paul lost his wife Lynn, who was riding pillion, at the scene. He also lost his leg below the knee and suffered other serious injuries. To enable a successful rehabilitation and a smooth legal process, it was critical that Paul was placed at the centre and that all parties (client and pursuer (Paul), pursuer's solicitors (Motorcycle Law Scotland), defender's solicitors (DAC Beachcroft) and Insurer (AGEAS) had common goals which they could all work towards. These were achieved by working together collaboratively and making the right decisions to aid Paul's recovery and maximise his independence. PACE rehabilitation was instructed to help with Paul's life changing injuries and help him regain his mobility. This case demonstrates what can be achieved when the victim is placed at the centre of the claims process with all parties working together as opposed to against each other.
